Thanks House of Blues - September 20, 2007
A big thank-yeeeou to the staff at the North Myrtle Beach House of Blues for their help keeping Southern Blue straight this past weekend. Kudos to the stage manager, Kevin, sound guy - Phil, monitor mix - Luke, and hospitality - Michelle. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill Allen who usually runs the main board for us at the venue. His wife, Josita, was undergoing surgery in the hospital during the show.
A big thanks to the guys in Lonestar - we got to hang a little and take a few pics we'll post on the site soon. Great show, guys.
I must have signed nearly 100 autographs after the show - we had a packed house!

About Platinum Blue:
New York, NY-based Platinum Blue Music Intelligence, Inc was founded in December 2005 by Mike McCready and Tracie Reed, executives who spent 4 years from 2001 to late 2005 developing and breaking ground in the hit prediction and music recommendation space at their former company, Polyphonic HMI (now Music Intelligence Solutions). Platinum Blue’s mission is to provide the best real world applications of cutting edge technologies and the best business tools for the music and media industries.
Music Xray™ is a new technology that allows music professionals to see their music and their market in ways that were impossible until now. With these new insights, better decisions can be made regarding the potential market success of a given song.
It has long been known that music and math are closely related and that in a sense, music IS math. Recent research has shown strong evidence that most hit songs conform to a limited number of mathematical patterns. These patterns cannot be detected by the human ear much in the same way the doctor cannot be see with the naked eye that which the medical Xray reveals.
More than 90% of singles that are released and promoted by music labels do not chart and do not provide the labels with a return on their investment in spite of sounding and feeling like potential hits. This leaves label executives, producers and musicians themselves scratching their heads wondering what went wrong. Now, we are able to point to the mathematical properties of the song as a strong indicator of potential success.
Music Xray™ does not tell you if a song sounds like a hit. That’s an evaluation for the human ear and mind. It also doesn’t tell you if the artist is appealing or if the label knows how to get a single into the market. It does tell you however, if the song has the "optimal mathematical patterns" to become a success, a necessary but not singly sufficient condition for having a hit.
Please join me in congratulating Eli Weed for writing and performing this great song, and we'll let you know how well we do in the nationals.

Artist Promotion - August 20, 2007
Hello fans and industry rep's.
Tales of the Strand - Volume 2 continues to be popular for digital downloads; however, there has been no active promotion of the CD.
Myrtle Beach Management and Entertainment has been negotiating with a couple of Public Relations firms.
Artist PR out of Hollywood, CA has expressed an ongoing interest in representation. MBMEC will be making a decision soon to see who is best equipped to help advertise the CD in trade publications and magazines.

House of Blues gig - June 29, 2007
Thanks Michelle for rounding up the extra beer for the dressing room. Bill Allen ran a great stage mix and I heard tell the House PA was kickin'. So great to catch up with Willie and Dave from the D.B. Bryant band. The last time I was on the bill with those guys, I was playing in a band called Hyjnynx and they were in one called Hi-yo Silver. We opened for the Outlaws at Hood Park.
House of Blues gig - January 17, 2007
Much thanks to Bill Allen of the House of Blues and the incredible band, Black Label, for having Southern Blue open last Saturday's show. Thanks, too, to Michelle for keeping back-stage antics to a minimum and for taking such good care of us. The artwork and antique furniture in the green room are far superior to most dressing rooms we've used. The stage sound was the best we've experienced and we could feel the house PA pumping. Thanks, too to the radio guys at 107.9 who promoted the show and the special guests who contributed to the Josita Allen benefit auction. We had a blast! What a great venue! Please sing the guestbook, folks.

CD Arrival - December 22, 2006
Prelimanry News Release:
Diskfaktory in Irvine CA shipped the first round of CD's to the SeaWeeez home office this week. Eli was very pleased with the mastering job done by their audio department and the artwork looks great, too. Promotional copies of Tales of the Strand, Volume 2, are currently being distributed among local radio stations likely to provide airplay. Retail outlets in Myrtle Beach will soon be stocked and the CD will soon be available on CDBaby.com. Digital distribution is also under way. Details will follow this announcement once they have solidified. Although an inquiry to SESAC was sent to them, Eli does not yet qualify for membership with that fine publishing agency. That is also in the works.
Here is wishing you and yours a fantastic Christmas weekend.

CD News - December 9, 2006
Folks, Tales of the Strand - Volume 2, appears to be well on the way to release. A 12-song disc, it features some memorable tunes such as the danceable "Ocean Boulevard" and the hard rocking "Blond Bombshell".
Chuck at Diskfaktory, in Irvine California, gave us a courtesy call last week to let us know the re-submitted artwork was OK. It was on hold because the designer used a template with a hole in it for the disc design and the hole was the wrong size. The good news is that we are in production. Although Grand Strand Managment has not heard anything from the audio mastering department, we have high hopes that this CD will be available on CD Baby.com before Christmas. Also, since this project took a little longer than anticipated, Eli thanks each and every one of you fans for your continuing patience. This should be a very merry Christmas and a great new year, indeed.
